![]() Thus, saving before choices is highly recommended unless you really want to have to skip through scenes. The choices in this game tend to be “progression or game over”. This unfortunately means that the replay value isn’t exactly great. There aren’t really multiple paths/endings besides ones that end in death. Before I jump into praise and spoilers, let me lay down some knowledge and cons:ġ. The story covers Christmas to spring, hence the title Holiday Star (in addition to the plot-related reason for the title). Everyone you love is back in full force, including a few new faces. The chapters start out lighthearted and grow increasingly dark as the story continues, as to be expected with Hatoful Boyfriend. There are 13 achievements, which are not difficult to get, so you’re looking at around 4-6 hours of reading, depending on how quickly you go and how many breaks you take. Luckily, the English release contains all of the chapters as well as the 5 mini-chapters, image gallery, and 6 “radio” sessions (more on that later). From what I gather, the original release of the game was episodic, as there are 4 main story chapters. That’s right, you’re still alive and everything is as okay as it can be, given the odd circumstances you (Hiyoko) are in. ![]() The events of Holiday Star take place in a world where the BBL (Bad Boys Love) route never occurred. ![]() Now, if you were planning on picking this up and do not want it to be spoiled for you (and didn’t heed my warning at the start of this review), I suggest you hop on over to Steam and pick it up. In honour of this holiday, I decided that there was no better way to celebrate than to review the sequel for Hatoful Boyfriend. The manga's 12th chapter, which details what life in Hatoful House was like, is this.Hiyoko's little speech to Yuuya if you choose to meet with him at the temple in Holiday Star.Doctor Shuu adopting Miru and Kaku as his own children-not in the "future experiment fodder" sense, either, as when the protagonist catches up to him again, Miru and Kaku have redecorated his whole infirmary and he reluctantly let them keep it.They aren't just trying to cheer him up, they're forgiving and accepting him. That's sweet enough, considering that he always looks scared or about to cry, but gets even better: this is after all the subjects have been freed from Holiday Star. Another extra has the King's subjects offering him candies.We learn that Sakuya really isn't in that much danger, but Yuuya's concern for his little brother is incredibly touching. ![]() In an extra in Holiday Star, we see Yuuya learning that Sakuya is in danger of being assassinated.The ending of the main story of Holiday Star is this combined with a massive Tear Jerker, with the characters reaffirming the value of life and their determination to return to the world and move on to whatever future awaits them.Oko: Sakuya, and Yuuya, and Okosan all have their own wonderful names! Names more important than any breed!
